about

100% of all donations will go to the Black Lives Matter movement.

I'm tired of seeing things stay the same, when so many people need it to change. I wrote this song because I can't stay silent after seeing all the racial injustice, white nationalism, and police brutality everywhere I look.
I am so grateful that Jordon Mckinnley agreed to be on this track, and her verse is just so real and poetic and it really speaks so eloquently about the problems going on in our country right now.

lyrics

blue and red
sirens in the night
black and blue
i’m ready for a fight

No justice no peace
No silence no sleep
They kill us we can’t breathe
our mothers they weep

Feel powerless worthless
They’re under my skin
I can’t stand this bloodshed
We can’t let them win

Felt the pavement once
Still got scars from fighting cuffs
I know fear and fight or flight
Running naked in the night

But I won’t take this shit no more
The fear of busting down the door
That makes our confrontations dangerous
We’ve had enough and there is no playing us

Protests are legal despite what they say to us
feeding us lies because they are afraid of us
hope they don’t kill me but I had to say this
We can unite and then make them obey us

I will not bend to their will and just take it
making this music to show I won’t fake it
The power that be will not bend we must break it
we must take it

Imagine a world without violence and mayhem
No hateful slurs and no racists to say them
No cop on your neck and no reasons to run
Your hands in my pants in the place of a gun take a
walk and I’d breathe with no reason to leave
let my guard down a little my heart on my sleeve
Sit in the garden with you and just be
This is the life that wed lose I don’t wanna grieve

Oh yeah I had to say this
Bugging our phones
So I know that they hear this

Oh no I had to say this
selling our country
And cashing in payments

Oh yeah I had to say this
I demand justice for Breonna Taylor

Oh no I hate to say it
I hope I’m the last they put down on the pavement

I can’t do anything alone I know
My spirit caught in the undertow
I go with the flow until the river runs red
I can’t watch in silence get me out of my head

Oh say can you see me
sick of seeing my people die on TV
screaming I can’t breath
while they kneeling on our neck
Mama sick wondering
if her baby gone make it home
skittles and tea why they killed Treyvon
welcome to America the terror dome
suit and ties like my guys
they disguise it better
vowed to serve and protect
but they ain’t ever protect us
fuck you and fuck them
I seen one of mine on a stretcher
y’all the real gangsters
He had a life to live
20 years old when his light did dim
By the hands of a coward backed by a badge
Like a blast from the past
How history repeats its self
Swear I need some help
PTSD
Pity us please
this life make you want to fall to your knees
Won’t fall like no leaves
Stand tall like a tree
Just love me for me
My roots and my weeds yeah
One day we’ll be yeah
Out of the darkness and into the light
But it won’t be easy
They’ll put up a fight
They’ll tell you that right is the wrong way
And their way’s the only way
It’s written all on their face
They don’t want to hear us
They want us to fear then
They want to protect the power that they hold
Not realizing love is the strongest of all
Divided we fall
Together we strong
My back on the wall
My hands to the sky
They keep yelling at me
Comply
Comply
And just at the blink of an eye
I died

about

likela Mullett Township, Michigan

Some things are meant to be listened to alone in a quiet place.

Some things can keep you company in the background without requiring your full attention.

It might be an end time prophecy, it might be a message from god, but someday, the person who is supposed to will hear it.

Maybe sometimes that person is me.
